The Icy Confines

Wrigley Field is getting prepped for the 2009 Winter Classic hockey game between the Detroit Red Wings and the Chicago Blackhawks on January 1, 2009. If that isn't cool enough, the Chicago Cubs announced an open skate day for neighborhood residents.

On Sunday, January 4, Wrigley Field will open its doors for a neighborhood skate from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Approximately 1,000 tickets were made available for $10 each. The event will be broken into 45-minute intervals. The proceeds will benefit Cubs Care.

I wish that was open to the general public. I'm not much of a ice-skater, but that sounds like it would be an exciting day at the ballpark.

Awesome! Finally, something to do with baseball that I would LOVE!! HA!

that is interesting, they should open the stadium as an ice skate park for the kids for the whole of Christmas and New Years.

My husband is going to the game...I love hockey, I love the Wings, but there is no way you'd catch me sitting outside in the middle of winter to watch a game!!

We used to live in that neighborhood...Charlie is wishing we still did so he could take part in the day after skating party. Now that I would do (because I could leave when I got cold!)
