The Icy ConfinesWrigley Field is getting prepped for the 2009 Winter Classic hockey game between the Detroit Red Wings and the Chicago Blackhawks on January 1, 2009. If that isn't cool enough, the Chicago Cubs announced an open skate day for neighborhood residents.
On Sunday, January 4, Wrigley Field will open its doors for a neighborhood skate from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Approximately 1,000 tickets were made available for $10 each. The event will be broken into 45-minute intervals. The proceeds will benefit Cubs Care.
I wish that was open to the general public. I'm not much of a ice-skater, but that sounds like it would be an exciting day at the ballpark.
