MLB Game #11: Mets vs. CubsI hope the rain stays away. The last time I checked the weather, it called for rain early, but should clear up by game time. Whatever, a rainy day at a baseball game is better than a great day at work.
Susan and I have the day off and are heading to Wrigley Field to watch the New York Mets play the Chicago Cubs. Susan bought these tickets for me before the season began. I had hopes that today would be a day for counting down the Magic Number until the Cubs clinched their third consecutive division title. Seeing that's all but ruled out, I hope for a good game. Right now, the Mets are a beaten and battered bunch. Their pitching rotation is broken with injuries to every major starter. On paper, the Cubs should walk all over the Mets. Of course, we said the same thing about the Washington Nationals series. The Nationals won two of three at Wrigley Field.
The Mets will send Pat Misch (0-1, 4.09 ERA) to the mound. He's been a minor league starter all season and hasn't made a major league start since he was with the San Francisco Giants last season. The Cubs counter with Ted Lilly (9-8, 3.40 ERA).
With the Cubs' recent collapse in the standings, the rainy weather, and Milton Bradley's cries of racism, I have a strange feeling about today's game. I'm not sure what is going to happen, but I have a crazy feeling that something unusual will occur today.
