It All Comes Down to This
Baseball fans in Detroit, Minneapolis and Denver couldn't ask for a more dramatic conclusion to the regular season. Saturday is the second to last day of the regular season, and all three teams are still alive. Meanwhile, the postseason is scheduled to start on Wednesday, October 7.While moving vans are parked outside of Minneapolis' HHH Metrodome, the Twins hope to play a few additional games at home this October. With a big win over the Kansas City Royals last night, the Twins moved to within one game of the American League Central Division lead. They were helped by their division rival Chicago White Sox when, last night, the White Sox hammered the division-leading Detroit Tigers 8-0. Currently, the Tigers have a Magic Number of two.
Over in the National League, the NL West race is still alive, but not nearly as dramatic. Both the Los Angeles Dodgers and Colorado Rockies clinched playoff spots, but the NL West Division title and wild card are still up for grabs. While matched up for the final series of the regular season, these two teams could find themselves playing each other quite a bit in October. If the Dodgers win tonight, they'll be division champions and the Rockies take the wild card. If the Rockies win tonight, both teams will be tied and their game on Sunday will determine everything.
Just think about all the t-shirts and hats that are printed right now that will be donated.
