Where Have You Gone, Stan Shackelford? A nation of video gamers turns its lonely eyes to you (Woo, woo, woo).
Do you remember the Major League Baseball strike of 1994? I certainly do. It was the labor dispute that prevented me from seeing a World Series during my senior year at Elmhurst College.
Quick bit of trivia. During my four years at Elmhurst College (August 1991-May 1995), only three World Series were played. Two of the three were won by the Toronto Blue Jays. Those two World Series were the only two to feature a team outside of the United States.
Back to the point of this blog. Deadspin posted an article about a lingering effect of the 1994 strike. Also, do you remember Stan Shackelford? He made a big impact in Chicago, but I would wager a pretty penny that you've never heard of his name.

1) the name sounds familiar. If it doesn't come to me within 30 minutes I shall use the google.

2) I know why the name sounds familiar. It's Lisa Shackelford's husband that I met at Alcock's about 8 months ago - an old colleague from spss. But I'm pretty sure that's not the same Stan you're talking about.

4) OK, I admit I went and looked it up as I had no idea who that was. From MLB 2K9 it was the likeness of Sammy Sosa since he was unsigned at the time. Also, Barry Bonds had an alternative name "Joe Young" in homage to SF's Joe Montana & Steve Young. However, Bonds was given this name because he refused to let them use his name/likeness. Why am I not surprised? Also if u remember any NBA video game from the Jordan era, he never appeared as himself in those games for the same reason as Bonds.

5) Oh the memories of NBA Live 95 on Sega Genesis. Remember the game that went into something like quadruple overtime and the final was 201-200?
