Wiffle Ball 1990: Game #1Monday, May 7, 1990
Game #1 - Craig (0-0, 0.00) vs. Bill (0-0, 0.00)
Last year, I documented the inaugural season of my old Wiffle Ball League to celebrate its 20th anniversary. This year, I will share the results of the second season. Unfortunately, I had a job so far fewer games were played. During the 1990 season, we used an altered wiffle ball. Basically, it featured more electrical tape than in the past. As a result, a new "grand slam rule" was adopted. If a home run was hit over the house across the street, the batter would be created with four runs in the game, but only one home run would be recorded.
So, here is the first game of the 1990 season.
When the 1990 Wiffle Ball season kicked-off, Craig started the new year where he left off in late October. He took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Both Bill and Craig hung zeroes on the board until the top of the fourth inning. Craig added one additional home run to take a 2-0 lead. Bill couldn't answer in the bottom of the fourth or fifth inning. Craig recorded five strikeouts and Bill recorded six. Stretching back to the 1989 season, Craig extended his scoreless innings pitched streak to 24. The last home run he surrendered was during the eighth inning on October 30, 1989.
