A weekend of yard work

This weekend, we decided to attack the backyard and prepare for spring. Today is one of the rare Mondays where going to work will be easier than the weekend.

On Saturday morning, Susan and I walked around the yard pulling up garlic mustard. We have a traditional size suburban lot, but that weed can spread in a heartbeat. I have noticed that a number of local park districts and forest preserves are hosting "Garlic Mustard Pulls" during May, so I figured we should probably jump on that this year.

During the afternoon, we started weeding the existing flower beds around our garage. After a full day of work, we weren't even close to finished yet. All of that work culminated in sore arms and legs for both of us.

On Sunday, we received tons of rain. Good thing. We needed a rest. I guess we'll be back at it again next weekend.

3) I am tackling it today since we had storms all weekend. At least the ground is easy to work. I'm breaking up some free monkey grass and that stuff is really tough. My roses are blooming and I hope to go pick strawberries tomorrow. Love this time of year before it gets too hot.

4) I too did yard work. What a mess our New England winters leave behind. I have a lot of pine and spruce trees and their is always a carpet of needles. I actually used a leaf blower instead of sweeping off the brick patio. That was so much easier. Duh!
