One More Week

The 2011 Major League Baseball season commences on Thursday, March 31, but the Chicago Cubs begin their season one week from today. On Friday, April 1, the Cubs will open the season in Wrigley Field with a 3-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Ryan Dempster has been all ready been named as the opening day starter for the Cubs.

Today, the Cubs announced that Robert Redford, who will be in Chicago to promote his latest film, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Redford is best known, at least to die-hard baseball fans, as Roy Hobbs from the 1984 film, The Natural. The film, based upon a 1952 book of the same name, features a scene at Wrigley Field. Hobbs hits a game-winning home run that shatters a scoreboard clock. Though set at Wrigley Field, the scene was actually filmed in Buffalo, New York.

Almost there.

I just saw that movie again. I still love it. It's probably a thrill to him.

Has Wrigley been restored and the Northwestern colors removed? Have you ever heard whether the college football was a financial success or not?

I bought the book, but I haven't managed to get to it yet. Just a few more books first.

Yes, the NU purple is long gone. No, I never read anything about the financial results yet.
