On the Road AgainThe Chicago Cubs concluded their season-opening home stand with a record of 3-3. They dropped the opening series to the Pittsburgh Pirates (1-2), and won the series against the Arizona Diamondbacks (2-1). Though only three games, the Pirates picked up where 2010 left off and demonstrated they own the Cubs at Wrigley Field. Tonight, they begin a 9-game road in Milwaukee.
This evening, the Cubs begin a 3-game weekend series just north of the state line against the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers started the season by dropping their first four games. They were swept by the division leading Cincinnati Reds, then lost their home opener to the Atlanta Braves. Since then, the Brewers have won three straight.
The Cubs (3-3) currently sit in third place in the National League Central and trail the Reds (5-1) by two games. The Brewers (3-4) sit in fourth place, two and half games out of first.
On Monday, the Cubs will travel south to Texas for a 3-game series against the Houston Astros (1-5). Next Friday, the Cubs will conclude their first road trip of 2011 in Denver for a 3-game series against the Colorado Rockies (4-1).
