Next Road Trip: Detroit and Toronto

In mid June, Susan and I are heading out for a long weekend to visit Detroit and Toronto. The White Sox are playing the Tigers in Detroit while the Cubs have an interleague game against the Bluejays in Toronto.

Though I believe we are set with nice restaurants for the trip, does anyone have an suggestions for any interesting stops along the way?

1) When we drove up from NC, we stayed outside of Cleveland for a night. The only stop that we made was at the outlets in Niagara Falls. If you haven't been to Niagara Falls, then you could stop there. Niagara on the Lake is a nice quaint place to stop. It has a small town feel. There are also wineries that you can visit in Niagara. All of this is over the Canadian border. Once you get past the Falls and some of those things, it is pure QEW (the name of the road) until you get to Toronto. Let me know if I can help in any other way.

3) Lucky Betsy. I miss the Burgh.

(When I was there last summer I dropped my phone over the balcony and hit some guy.)

Sorry Bill, no ideas --- although....will you be going through Amish country in Ohio? If so, stop for some cheese and yogurt!

4) Merritt, thanks for the recommendation of Niagara Falls. We visited the American side back in July of 2005 on our way home from Cooperstown. We talked about a return visit. I completely forgot.

Hayley, no we won't be going through Ohio.

Betsy, have fun at PNC. That was a great park.

5) I haven't been to the American side, but have heard that the Canadian side is better. I'm sure that we will be going back at some point and then we'll need to go over to the other side. We went last year in early June and it wasn't too crowded. The weather was breezy, but nice. Hopefully you will have the same luck.

6) While you're in Detroit you may want to check out Greenfield Village...very cool place.
