MLB 2011 Game #12: Brewers vs. Cubs

What a way to end baseball's regular season. We have three games scheduled between today and Sunday. To celebrate another successful trip around the sun, Susan is treating me to another Cubs game this season. Yes, we are seeing her team, too. A few days ago, it appeared the Milwaukee Brewers could clinch the NL Central at Wrigley Field tonight. With the Brewers losing to the Cubs on Monday, and the St. Louis Cardinals beating the Philadelphia Phillies, that won't happen. The Brewers still have a Magic Number of 4.

Tonight, the Brewers are sending Shaun Marcum (12-7, 3.40 ERA) to the mound. It seems like he's pitched every Brewers game we've seen this season, doesn't it? The Cubs will counter with Randy Wells (7-4, 4.93 ERA).

Here are the current standings in the National League Central:

Update in the morning.

Milwaukee Brewers 90-64 .584 ---
St. Louis Cardinals 84-69 .549 5.5 GB
Cincinnati Reds 74-80 .481 16.0 GB
Chicago Cubs 68-86 .442 22.0 GB
Pittsburgh Pirates 68-86 .442 22.0 GB
Houston Astros 53-100 .346 36.5 GB
