MLB 2011 Game #16: NLCS Game 2 - Cardinals vs. Brewers
Just over one week ago, I had the chance to attend my first Major League Baseball playoff game. What an exciting experience. In essence, a playoff game is no different than a regular season game. They have ceremonial first pitches, sing the national anthem, announce player introductions, etc. But every single detail of the game was amplified. All of the activities were more intense. So much more is on the line. We attended Game 2 of the National League Division Series (NLDS) between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers won 9-4. This evening, we will be attending Game 2 of the National League Championship Series (NLCS). If the NLDS was intense, I can only imagine what tonight's game will be like.On Sunday, the Brewers jumped to an early 1-0 series lead as they defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 9-6. Since this round is a best-of-seven series, the Brewers have one down with three to go in order to advance to the World Series. Tonight, the Cardinals will send Edwin Jackson (12-9, 3.79 ERA | Regular Season) to the mound. He picked up a win against the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLDS where he pitched six innings and surrendered two runs. Jackson started the season with the Chicago White Sox, but was part of a three-way trade between the White Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, and Cardinals. The Brewers will answer with Shaun Marcum (13-7, 3.54 ERA | Regular Season). Marcum was hammered in his only start of the NLDS. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings against the Diamondbacks as he allowed seven runs, including a grand slam.
Susan and I were only able to purchase standing room only seats, so we may be wandering throughout Miller Park this evening. It should be a blast.
