It Only Took 50 Years

Tom Seaver pitched one, but not with the New York Mets. Nolan Ryan had seven, but never once with the Mets. Same with Gooden, and Cone, and 50 years worth of starting pitchers.

This evening, Johan Santana pitched the first no-hitter in New York Mets history. Santana surrendered no hits while walking five as the Mets defeated the St. Louis Cardinals.

Now the San Diego Padres are the only major league franchise never to have thrown a no-hitter.
