Are the Marlins Throwing in the Towel?

Back in December, I posted a blog about the significant offseason moves. I joked that it was too early to fast forward to the World Series and discuss the matchup between the AL Champion Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and the NL Champion Miami Marlins. Those two teams opened up their checkbooks and attracted high-priced free agents. The Angels grabbed Albert Pujols away from the St. Louis Cardinals. The Marlins did the same by signing Jose Reyes from the New York Mets and Mark Buehrle from the Chicago White Sox.

Last night, the Marlins and Los Angeles Dodgers completed the most significant trade of the 2012 season. Ramirez was moved from shortstop to third base following the acquisition of Reyes during the offseason. With the trade, Ramirez moved from dead in the water with the Marlins to a pennant race in the NL West.

Following the Ramirez trade, will the Dodgers still be interested in acquiring Ryan Dempster from the Cubs? Only one week until the deadline.
