London 2012 Summer Olympics: Will You Watch?

With the opening of the London 2012 Summer Olympics just moments away, I thought I would post a few simple questions.

1. Do you plan to watch any portion of the London Summer Olympics?

2. If yes, what events do you plan to watch? Do you have a favorite sport or athlete?

3. If no, why not?

Time to discuss.

i LOVE the Olympics. I've had the opening ceremonies marked on my calendar for months! I will watch just about everything (except maybe archery, that's kind of boring). My favorites for summer are gymnastics (mens and womens) and swimming/diving. I don't really have a favorite athlete but I'm excited to see how Jordyn Weiber does--she's from a small town close to Michigan State, how could I not like her?!

We'll watch as much as we can. We are on the road, and visiting relatives, so it's hard to say. I don't like boxing. I am sure there are other things, but I can't think of them at the moment.

Used to love watching but all of the ads and constant babble of the sports announcers finally wore me out and I no longer watch.

1. Yes, I do watch the Olympics, but I am not the biggest fan.

2. During the summer Olympics, I don't have any particular sports that I follow. I mainly watch whatever is happening at the moment. I don't follow any particular athletes. I always watch the opening ceremonies. They are usually creative, but the 2008 ceremony in Beijing set a high standard. By comparison, all future ceremonies will appear weak.

The opening ceremony last night didn't appear a bit weak, Bill!!! I thought it was ingenious. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Brilliant!!

No doubt Beijing's was brilliant and I thought last night would be a drag after that, but I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed it. The Queen arriving by parachute was fantastic!!

My wife Bev thought the opening ceremonies were "Wonderful" and when you get a comment like that out of her about a sports related event it is a milestone. Personally, I didn't watch the show; however, some of the recaps that I have read make it out to be GREAT. Being an age old James Bond fan I would have probably been in awe with the Queen and 007.

Beijing's Olympic site is not so brilliant today.

Maybe this is typical of post Olympic sites, I don't know.
