It's Been a Long Time

The streak is over. I mowed our lawn this evening after work. This spring and summer have been extremely dry and hot. Temperatures have regularly hit the upper 90s with a few days over 100 degrees. We've had occasional days with rain, but generally speaking, a 30% chance of rain this year means there's a zero percent chance anything will fall from the sky. This is especially odd since we received an insignificant amount of snow during the winter, too.

The last time I mowed our lawn was on Monday, June 4. That was the day before we left for Florida. On the local news, they were calling for rain while we were away so I made the decision to mow so that we wouldn't be greeted by an overgrown lawn.

There still isn't much rain in the forecast, so I'll be curious as to when I'll be mowing again.

Wow. That's almost two months. We have to mow ours at least every two weeks and even that is a little too little. Hopefully you'll get rain soon.

I broke down and spot mowed the weeds a few days ago. Other than that, I haven't mowed in a couple months either.

Yeh and I went and got my mower tuned up about 6 weeks ago. Haven't had to use it except one time to cut some of the weeds that have been growing.

We now have a water ban in Springfield so I am hoping that we either get some rain here soon or I might be looking at reseeding next spring

And here, in the mountains of western North Carolina it's raining at least once a day. Go figure.
