On Memorial Day 1921, the New York Giants dedicated a plaque to the memory of Eddie Grant. Following his baseball career, Grant enlisted in the Army and served in World War I. He would die in action in France’s Argonne Forest. The plaque vanished following the Giants’ final game at the Polo Grounds in 1957. Nearly a half-century later, the San Francisco Giants created a replica and put it on display at AT&T Park. http://goo.gl/bd18yJ
