I remember when we moved to Elmhurst, we went to that library right before it closed. It was totally ghetto. Then they opened the new one, which was like the best library ever. I used to go there and listen to Pink Floyd on the iPod while reading about graphic design or web stuff or who knows what. I miss that place (the new library). I also miss sitting at the Metra stop waiting for Courtney's train that brought her back from work every day.

You're right. There couldn't be more contrast between the two libraries. The old place always had a dated and dirty feel. This building even has a haunted legend. I used to work for the park district when we first took possession of the mansion. We hosted a few fundraising events here after the library moved out. It's surprising just how easy it is to scare people in a big, old and dark building.
