The Mall of America was built upon the site of Metropolitan Stadium, the original home of the Minnesota Twins. This memorial is placed upon the location of the old home plate.

1) I used to look for that when I went there. Cool memento.

2) I bet most people walk over the spot and never notice it.

3) Possibly. Since there are so many people that walk through that place but it was notably mentioned when the Mall opened. And I'm not even a sports fan but I did think it a cool thing. The amusement park in the Mall always amazed me--particularly at night. Having worked in a mall years ago it has to be appreciated having a sense of outside in the Mall--even if it is false. The few times I went we would sit in the food court over the park area and you could easily imagine you were sitting outside. In MN in the winter--that could be a good thing. LOL
