Sunday, June 28th, 2009Introducing Big Pics We're super happy to announce a new feature - large photos. We have slightly modified the layout of the photo section to allow photos to span the width of the page, resulting in photos with over twice the resolution as the old ones. See more detail than ever before.
This new layout replaces the standard size layout for all Humdinger accounts starting today. Free accounts will continue using the standard size photo layouts. Anytime a member with a free account upgrades to a Humdinger account, all of their existing photos will be re-converted from their originals in order to fit the expanded layout. This process might take a day or so to complete, but we don't want to leave any photos behind.
All existing Humdinger photos will be re-processed over the next several days in order to fill up all available space on the new photo layout page.
While you might expect larger photos to take longer to load, we are happy to say that the new, larger photos actually take up less space than their normal-size counterparts. You should not experience any page-load delays with this new layout.
We have been working hard on a new photo uploading tool that we can't wait to release. A new multiple-photo uploader will be able to upload a whole batch of photos on one page and enter captions as they upload. No more sitting around waiting for photos to upload one at a time. Stay tuned for this release sometime this summer, and in the mean time enjoy some large photos!
We have that on our list to add sooner than later! Look for it in a few weeks probably. Thanks for the great suggestion!
