Create Your Own Avatar

We realize that in March we launched a brand new web site with basically no instruction on how to use it. It is really incredible how well the Humzoo community has adapted to the features of the site, and helped each other out along the way, but now its time to do something about that.

Introducing Zootorials
We are proud to announce the first of a series of tutorials to the Humzoo Community. As we add new features to the site we want to make sure that everyone is able to take full advantage of whats available. We aim to make the site as intuitive and simple to use as possible, but with the diverse set of users on Humzoo we feel its important to provide guidance each step of the way.

Create Your Own Avatar

Today we will cover how to upload and create your very own avatar. If you're not familiar with the term avatar, it is a graphical representation of you. Avatars are commonly seen in blogs, forums and chat rooms on the Internet. On Humzoo it's a small icon, of your choosing, that is placed in your header and beside your blogs, photos and comments throughout the site.

Uploading an avatar is surprisingly very simple to do and only takes a minute. While logged in, go to your account by clicking the Account link in the header next to your name.

In your account you will see a set of tabs, click on the Profile tab. Under the Profile tab there is a section titled Customize Your Avatar. Click on the Browse button to find a photo or graphic on your computer that represents you best. Then click Upload. (images must be at least 60x60 pixels in dimension)

Depending on the size or composition of your uploaded photo you may to scale or shift the photo to best fit inside the avatar window. To do this either use the slider tool under the avatar window or drag the photo around until you are satisfied. Then click Save.

That's it, nothing to it. Now you have your very own avatar like everyone else on Humzoo. You can always delete your avatar or change it in your account. Your blogs, photos and comments throughout the site will automatically be updated with your new avatar.

8) Courtney could be the chick that dances in the video. She's got some great moves! Halloween night you could go door-to-door reenacting the video.

10) Ummmm... who could that have been? I will say one thing: he will never let you down. That's for sure.

On a side note, it's too bad none of the photos from my office made the cut. Not sure if you noticed, but I had a large framed photo of Rick Astley right next to my desk. Was hoping to give an analog Rick Roll via print media!

13) Spring is such a wonderful time of year! So full of surprises! Yesterday morning when we opened the door to get our paper, we found a pair of mallards resting about ten feet away in our front yard. They stayed for another half hour taking turns sleeping...then found a few bites to eat and a few sips of water in puddles on the street...then, frightened by a car, they flew away. What a treat!
