Saturday, September 27th, 2008Brewers/Cubs, Friday night I got a call at 4pm yesterday from a friend who had 2 extra tickets to the Brewers/Cubs game last night. Since we couldn't get a babysitter within the hour, I decided to leave the husband and baby at home and take Ava. She was at a game when she was 2 and we took her last year when the Indians played at Miller Park so this was really her first game that she had any idea what the heck was going on.
She was great the entire night. We sat in the nosebleeds and were surrounded by lots-o-drunks. Both Brewer and Cub fans were dropping F-bombs like they were going outta style! Fortunately, she was more concerned about the Pull-n-Peel Twizzlers, Fruity Mike N' Ikes and had her eyes on the cotton candy lady all night. She tried a hot dog but really only ate anything that had sugar in it ALL night long.
Notice the ketchup still on her face from the hot dog?
We stayed until the end of the game and had to fight the sold out crowd of almost 45,000 in the parking lot. We sat in our car for 25 minutes before it moved and it took another 40 minutes to get out of the parking lot. Ava was asleep as soon as she was buckled into her car seat so it worked out great.
The game was beyond exciting, especially once the "F" appeared on the Mets/Marlins game and we saw they lost. Today had opposite results and was a total bummer all the way around, but at least we got to experience a big win!
Great photos, too!
It's getting tight for your guys. I thought the Cubs were going to blow Saturday's game late. If the Brewers win on Sunday, and the Mets lose, Milwaukee gets back into the playoffs. We'll be at the game on Sunday.
Haha, leaving the husband at home, I love it! Sounds like you two had a great time.
Congrats on the Brewers making it to the playoffs! What an exciting finish to the regular season.
It was downright one of the most fan-frickin'-tastic finishes I have seen between the Brewers/Cubs and Mets/Marlins in one day!!! I peed my pants a few times.
