Wild Wedding Weekend
I'm obviously a master alliterator!
My roommate, Charlene, is getting married this weekend in Champaign. I hosted the bachelorette party two weekends ago, and it was a total success. Her maid of honor is only 20, so we had to go the campus bars so she could get in, but other than that it was fun. She has seven bridesmaids...we definitely had a full apartment!

(Me and Charlene. One of our finer moments - alcohol may or may not have contributed to this picture.)
Charlene's fiancee is in the Navy and lives in SC right now, so I've had a big hand in planning the wedding. I tasted cake, looked at flowers, tied bows, dried tears (more than once), and almost kicked some ass (mothers-in-law aren't always cooperative!) But it's all come together, and now it's happening. It's SO WEIRD that my friends are getting married. I think that most of the humzooers are further into their 20s than I am (in some cases far beyond) and have been through this already...that realization that some other life exists beyond school and 300 square foot apartments.
Some people just have their shiz figured out. I am NOT that person. I can't even find matching socks in the morning. I always thought my first major milestone of adulthood would be buying my first couch. Right this very second, I don't think I even have a credit card with a high enough limit to charge something like that, let alone enough savings to buy it outright.
Someday I'll grow up. I promise, I will. I can fake it, sometimes. It was important to me to write this blog as a way to remember this fun, scary time of not-knowing. Because even though I feel behind and am totally jealous of my friends that are barelling into adulthood, I'm enjoying not-knowing and all of its perks.
Cheers to Charlene and Matt! I love you both, and am so happy to be a part of your day!

The first-ever picture of the happy couple, taken by yours truly!

1) Dude, you totally have your shiz together. Or at least you're really good at pretending you do. I remember when I met you and you were like in your early years at college, and I was all "serious? I thought you were 30." And I don't mean that in a bad way or like in any sort of way that would make it sound like you look older than you are. I just mean when I was 20, I was a total wreck. I should stop talking now.
