T-Minus 7 Days, and counting...

This time next Thursday, I will be on my way to North Carolina. I have been packing like crazy, as my mom has made it excruciatingly clear that I am no longer welcome back home for extended periods of time, and that my room will promptly be turned into a long-awaited library. I love you too, Mom. Thanks.

No, but seriously, her demands are far from unreasonable...I am 22 after all, and I hope that I never run into a situation where I need to move back home, but I do know that if that ever happens I'll be welcomed with open arms. I'll just have to sleep on a Hide-A-Bed in the new library.

Packing is strange. I have a big wicker chest at the foot of my bed that I haven't opened in years, and inside I found stuff from my 5th grade days at Iles (before it was the gifted school...I'm not gifted.) Old "Narrative Essays" from the days when hamburgers were used as extended metaphors for paper formatting. I must say that my tomato paragraph was particularly enlightened. I've taken about 7 trash bags full of my childhood down to the garage for garbage pick-up, and I'm sort of disappointed about how non-nostalgic I feel about it. I think I'm ready for the next thing. The first few weeks in NC will be tough. I'm sure I'll be lonely. But it's time.

And I always have humzoo to keep me company, right? :-D

1) I'm sorry, but North Carolina's quota of Humzooers is full. Your account will be permanently removed and we wish you the best.

2) Welcome to the greatest state in the Union Casey! We'll definitely be in Raleigh soon so we'll make plans to catch up while we are. Best of luck with the move and the first few weeks getting acquainted.

4) It's a great state, Casey, even if I did leave it many years ago. I know my family is taking good care of it should I ever want to return. Friendly folks--they'll keep you company when you get caught up with Humzooers. Good for you getting rid of all that stuff at 22--don't fall back into the trap of building that kind of pack-rat stuff again and you will have a cleaner house and much easier moves should you ever do it again. :)

5) thanks Denny and LGrant! I'm excited for the move. Ben, I took a job with Caterpillar, and my first assignment is a year and a half in the Raleigh area.
