Ch-ch-ch-changes!

Ethan will be 3 April 4th. In honor of that and the fact that he is the size of a five year old, we got him a belt-positioning booster seat. Technically, he still fits in his other one, but O.M.G. is it ever impossible to get him into that thing. Plus, I sometimes have to move him to the back row of the mini van because he and Mia have already started the, "She's touching me!" crap. So, yeah....

But the best thing is that my mom bought Ethan a big boy bed for his birthday. It's a long story, but we already put it together for him. He pretty much guessed what it was ahead of time. The second he saw the mattress with the sheets, pillows and blankets on, he said, "(pointing at the new bed) This is my big bed; I sleep in here now! I don't sleep in there (pointing at the crib)."

Okay. We were thinking maybe we'd just have the big bed at first for cuddling in. Ethan insisted he sleep in there, so we set some ground rules. You know, you can't get out of bed unless your hair is on fire, and then it must be at least 60 percent of your hair and at least one limb. We gave him his own clock and instructed him that the first number must be a seven before he can get out of bed for the day.

He stayed in all night until I came to get him at 7:00 this morning, and he took a great nap in there this afternoon. So far, his favorite parts of his new setup are the star light and the alligator pillow. He insists that the alligator is not a pillow, but just his alligator buddy.

I'm so happy this transition went so easily, and I hope he keeps it up.

1) That's awesome. We just helped put together a "Big Girl Bed" for my niece, Claire. I don't personally remember moving from crib to bed, but it seems to be quite a rite of passage. Claire's mom nearly started crying when she began to realize her little girl was growing up.

2) It is kind of a "weepy" moment when they get the BIG bed. This bed is SO darling, Courtney! Tell Bobbie, "Good move, Grandma!!"

3) Sweet bed! Glad the transition is going well. Dylan just hit 20 pounds at her 1 year appointment, we just transitioned her to the covertible car seat eventhough her infant one actually went up to 30 lbs. We are hoping to keep her in the crib until she is at least 16, at the rate she is growing it should not be a problem.

4) No kidding, she's a tiny one compared to mine. My kids outgrew that infant seat before they could even sit up by themselves. That part was a little annoying. It put a cramp in my shopping style.

5) I love the 7 rule. Perfect, we need to get Dylan a clock, that should take care of Saturday mornings for good!
