Coincidence or ATT Screw Up?

We had our home phone disconnected because we're beyond poor right now. They turned it off today. The weird thing is that my iPhone now says "No Service." So, I can't figure out if this is a weird coincidence or if they mistakenly cut off our cell service too. And Dave is, of course, not answering his email.

Joe Day, I know you're out there in Springfield with an iPhone. What does yours say? You got any bars?

1) The problem is with iPhone: If you're so poor you need to get a cheaper phone like a Samsung like I have. So there!

2) My iPhone sometimes says that (even before it took a dip in the toilet). Have you tried a forced shut down and restarted it?

3) LimeyGeorge, that must be it! Tech Service (Dave) finally wrote back and had me restart the stupid phone. I now have a piddly three little bars. But at least I know it was a very bad coincidence.

4) Sorry I wasn't quick enough. I have one teeny little bar, but I'm in the middle of a steel cage match with your significant other.

5) I feel so sorry for you iPhone owners, its just gotta be rough.

I have been trying to convince Niki to cut out our 50/month home phone line for years but she always comes up with a different excuse. Her latest one is "What if the baby sitter needs to call us?". We haven't had a sitter yet that doesn't own a cell phone and I am happy to add that to the list of prerequisites along with "Don't drink all my beer".

6) Denny - if you have a babysitter that means you're both out, more than likely together (or at least with someone else), and that person is likely to have a phone so you can leave the sitter with one of your phones.

8) It's hard to get people to sympathize with you about not having money when you own an iPhone. This is something I knew going in though, and I can live with it. I just hope the kids like their new foster home.

9) Lol, this is hysterical because iPhones in Canada are ridiculously expensive. What do they cost there?

10) The new one will be between $200-$300 I can't remember what they were when the first ones came out last year - more then I could afford

11) They were $500 last year. And $40/mo for the plan.

Betsy, I bet you look hot with your bag phone. So jealous.

12) $40/mo for the phone plan + $20/mo for the data plan. And while the new phones are cheaper, the new plan costs more & no text messages are included. In the end, it costs more over the 2 years than forking over the $500 up front. Oh and there's an upgrade fee if you're eligible; if you're not it's going to cost $200 extra.

If I didn't have a phone that was suffering from toilet water, I don't think I'd be getting the new one. I've been looking online for a used 1st generation instead.

13) I'm actually carrying around a Zach Morris phone. It works like a charm, and the 80's haven't billed me yet.

15) When it rings does it go, "Screeech?"
Maybe that's just my Dustin Diamond phone.

16) LG, Saved by the Bell? Zach Morris? He had a giant phone....but one of the first cell phones I'd seen in my life.

Joe, I don't know if I'd want to own anything with Dustin Diamond's name on it anymore...he's gotten creepy.

18) Must be old Tv here?

19) Oh, George. It's 80's tv. Saved by the Bell is one of the greatest tv shows of my childhood. It was such a stupidly comical view of teenage life...so unrealistic, but so great.

20) D&D need to start seriously selling Humdinger memberships door to door so that the Heinzels can escape poverty. Do you want me to renew my membership early so that you can get your phone service back?

21) Courtney, maybe Dave should get another job, I mean he is really lazy right?

Hayley, actually Denny and I rarely go out together when we get a babysitter. His girlfriend got jealous last time I tagged along. He forgot to mention that he uses the home line quite frequently for work. I guess I have just gotten used to a home phone in almost every room and not having to run up or down the stairs to get my cell phone.

23) Ok, so I was planning on getting my FIRST iphone this Friday, do you all NOT recommend it now???? And, I too struggle with disconnecting the home phone, mostly 800 numbers calling anymore. UGH!

24) SA Tenor - The thing preventing me from getting an iPhone is the extra $30 bucks a month for service and I agreed to letting Mrs. Shoo have a shopping spree for the same amount of the cost of the iPhone. We also don't have a home phone.

25) I love that shirt, Hayley!!
Also, I like not having a home phone. I get very few (maybe once every three months) sales or survey calls on my cell phone, and I nearly always have it with me. So, I just don't see a need for a home phone.

26) Ya. I guess it's easy for me to say get rid of the home phone, SA Tenor, because I haven't had one since freshman year of college (I didn't get a cell till about a month before the semester was over).

Ever since then I've just used my cell: but I think that's more than normal among 20 somethings leaving home. Troy and I both have our cells, and the important people in life have both our numbers (I think). Just tell yourself that once you get your iPhone, you can disconnect the home phone - that way cost evens out!

Mrs. Shoo, if i find it online to buy, i'll let you know :)
