Dear Allied Waste:
We had a decent run. You were our first garbage company. You lent us a big, blue toter to put all of our trash into. It was really nice. It never fell over. It was very roomy, and it had wheels for easy transport. Plus, the lid was connected by a hinge.
Something happened, though. It was mostly me. After two years, I just started to think we weren't right for each other. You had your sights on bigger and better things. I was looking for a garbage company that wanted to stay here in Springfield instead of roaming all over the country. So, I moved on. In case you were wondering, Lake Area Disposal and I have a wonderful relationship.
After I said I wanted to break up with you, you asked for your garbage toter back. It's understandable. Really, I wasn't going to be using it with my new garbage company, anyway. Your name was all over it. So we didn't have to have the painful, face-to-face meeting, I left the toter by the curb. I guess you came and got it, because it was gone a few hours later.
Maybe you haven't moved on, though. Because, here we are...six months later, and you are still harassing me by mail. You claim I never gave you the toter back, and you're trying to make me pay for it. You also claim you haven't been able to contact me, but you have never once even tried to call. I still have the same number! I thought we had settled this last month when I finally broke down and called you to explain that I had returned the toter. You were agreeable on the phone and claimed you would stop harassing me. But you haven't. You're still sending me threatening notes.
I don't appreciate this behavior; it's unacceptable. I think your customers and future customers have a right to know what type of relationship you can provide.

Nice blog, let me know if you need me to "make a call".
Git'em, Courtney!!
They sent us a very nice apology letter when they needed to raise the rates a quarter. I was very impressed, but also realized they paid more than that in postage to send me the letter.
We don't have a choice - but we get trash pick up 2 x a week, recycling pick up 1 x a week - we don't have to seperate our recycling - there is no limit on the amount of trash they pick up and if you have a large item - you just put it by the curb and they get it. Lawn debris and such just goes into a regular lawn and leaf bag or you can stack branches in managable piles and they pick them up by the second garbage day. We also have leaf trucks that run a few times in the fall - just pile your leaves at the edge of the street and they vacuum them up. At one point int he spring - I had 42 bags of pine straw that was picked up all at once - no extra charge
