WOOT!
Just got a call from the credit union that is sponsoring the video contest. In case you missed it, you can see my entry by clicking this awesome clickable text right here.
Anyway, the guy from the credit union told me that I am officially one of the "top 20 finalists!" Sweet!
The awards show will be held on August 16th at 6:00 pm at the Decatur Civic Center. Friends and family are welcome. The winners will be announced at the event. Top prize is $1500, with two runners-up receiving Flip Video Cameras (which Courtney would enjoy).
So wish me luck. You never know with competitions who else will enter or what the judges will like, but I've already mentally spent the prize money on some wainscoting and trim work for our kitchen area and to pay down some debt. WOOT!

I'll bet Courtney is rooting for the runner up spot then!
2. wainscots collectively.
Nice. I see no way that you DON'T win.
I'd really like to make it down for the awards show so I can bask in your reflected glory and make you buy me dinner when you win the big buck$$$$$.
its so true... the country may aswell not exist on sundays.. except if you need to go to sainsburys.
I was impressed with the local credit union contest because they didn't require people to make their videos ABOUT them. Also the winner actually gets a nice prize, and they are having a screening of the top 20 videos. I get the sense that somebody there actually likes and cares about movies, rather than this being a cheap way to get free advertising.
I've seen WAY too many bad graphic design "contests" (like, 'design our logo!'). It's like asking 100 people to paint your house, and then the one that did it 'best' gets $20. Contests like that should be illegal.
