Denny and Niki are coming to visit!

Today is the day. Denny and Niki will arrive in Springfield sometime this evening. It will be the kickoff to a weekend-long string of activities that is sure to make them glad they don't live in Springfield.

I plan to start off their weekend with a trip to Dane's Discount. Then they'll probably be tired from the long drive and will just want to unwind, so we'll head over to Deja Vu. I hear it's amateur night. Then we will go for a beautiful drive around the power plant. It's just gorgeous this time of year.

Tomorrow morning, we will eat breakfast at Denny's. Not Denny's house, I mean the restaurant. Not only does it share Denny's name, but it's probably the classiest place in town.

I think next we will hit Springfield's wide selection of second-hand stores, such as Goodwill, Salvation Army and that one tool store on Jefferson. We will probably need lunch, so we'll head to McDonalds. Just not sure which one.

That pretty much sums it up. We'll spend any free time at the offtrack gambling center on Wabash. Should be a blast! Look for very few updates throughout the weekend, as I'm sure I will try to stay away from computers as much as possible.

5) OH man, I didn't know ya'll would be going to second hand stores. I have become a great fan since I bought an old beach house that is so close to the ocean you can order a beer with your inside voice, from your beach chair. Did I mention,it is also on an unrebuildable lot. Ask Denny to explain. It was a real Dennis Deaton deal. Had I know, I would have pitched in for a Hybrid with a trailer hitch in case DandN found some great buys. Tell Denny to call me, maybe I will spring for the shipping. I have become a real scavenger, as Denny puts it. If the BIG STORM comes, I don't want valueable stuff flying to Kansas. Have a great weekend! Love, GIGI

6) I think its called Harbor Freight Dave. Not actually "Harbor Freight Dave" but "Harbor Freight".
Not only is it the heavy duty tools equivalent of Dane's but there is an "upscale" resale store in the mould of Goodwill right next door.

7) Awesome. Have a good time!
If there are any lemon scented geckos at Dane's, pick one up for me. Mine ran out of scent MONTHS ago.

8) THERE'S Betsy! I was starting to think she was busy sewing and didn't notice the Deatons on their drive-by.

9) Looks like you've missed Big R - or one of the farm stores. Gotta get the full flavor of central Illinois.

10) Don't forget to get a horseshoe. I hear it is a sin to visit Springfield and not indulge.
