The Black CD Last week I learned The Scientist by Coldplay on piano, and this weekend I was trying to memorize the words. It's not that I am good at singing or would ever do that in front of adults, but the kids enjoy it sometimes. And Ethan is super anal about lyrics, as in they have to be exactly right, because god forbid I get one word wrong and then he hears it on the radio, you'd think he was dying. Anywho...
So today we went for a drive in the car, and I was collecting some CDs to play before the ride. I wanted to find the Coldplay CD that has that song, because I don't think the kids have heard the actual song, just their poor, tone-deaf father's version.
I couldn't find the CD in my box of music. I found the case, which is white. Ethan insisted that the CD was black though. I couldn't remember what it looked like, but I pictured it looking like the case. Either way, what does he know? I never listen to actual CDs (or haven't until I got a car with a CD player last fall), but since then I don't think I've played that CD for him. If I have, it was certainly not something that had happened in the past 6 months. But I would bet money that he hadn't seen it before.
Anyway, I couldn't find the CD. So we went to my workplace, where I have a small collection of discs. Well, I found it. And would you believe the disc was black. I have no idea how he does it, but that boy has a photographic memory like I've never seen before.Tonight for bedtime, I was singing him The Scientist (which sounds like a beached whale calling for help, especially when I have no music to help). Apparently I got a word wrong, 'cause he abruptly rolled over, pointed a finger at me and said (in a mean voice), "No, that's not right!" So that was fun.
