Saturday I was supposed to meet a photographer at the skatepark in the early afternoon, so I stopped by in the morning to spread out the few puddles that normally collect after a heavy rainfall (we had a ton of rain Friday night). I was hoping to have the place all dried out by noon.
When I first looked over the edge of the bowl, I couldn't believe what I saw. I have never seen water collect like this, and it was several inches deep. There are two drains in this part of the bowl, but both were clogged. I heard that the grass at this park was cut during the day Friday, so a bunch of clippings found their way into the bowl with the water.

did anyone call the park district?
Are you kidding? If we remind them in any way that the skatepark still exists (which I assume they forgot about years ago), they'll probably just come tear it down. It's best that they don't even think it exists anymore. Except some lights would be nice. And some windscreens. And a Gatorade/Mountain Dew machine. You know, whatever.
Holy Cow! Dave's a Trooper! I've never seen the park flooded like that. I think we need some industrial drain cleaner for those drains. I'll try and get some from work.
