As mentioned in some comments on Justin's blog (http://www.humzoo.com/p00bahr/photos/2/1/), I made a softbox light one time out of some really questionable materials. This is after I found a way to mount it on a light stand, but believe me, it was not sturdy. A slight breeze would send this thing straight to the floor, which wasn't good because after being on for a couple minutes, it would set anything on fire that it came into contact with.

This photo is from our old apartment in 2005. The pixelated dude on the wall is the main character from a game I made called BeerDude, which you can still play online here: http://www.gotoandplay.it/_games/playGame.php?g=76

There's an old Canon AE-1 in the closet too, which I still have. Someday I'll shoot another roll of film, I just know it.

1) That kinda takes the "soft" outta soft box Dave.

2) Well, you know, the light was soft anyway. And it totally did work. It wasn't as bright as you'd want it to be, and forget trying to color balance. But for black and white close-ups (of non-melty items), it ruled the school.

3) I do give you mad props for your inventiveness. I used to put wax paper over chicken lights when I was in college because I couldn't afford real lights. Just hot lights that had a clamp on them, aka chicken lights, with some wax paper made for interesting portrait sessions. It was get to the o.

6) Were you running a Staples Express out of that closet? People just don't keep that much printer ink and scotch tape on hand.
