Ethan Playing the Piano
Ethan has taught himself how to play some songs on the piano. It's hard to get it on tape though, 'cause he usually doesn't like for other people to be in the room. Tonight I got a rare close view of a couple songs with camera in hand. The second song he plays, Itsy Bitsy Spider, he taught himself completely just by playing what sounded right to him. And if you watch his hands, he's so good at using different fingers. The piano purchase was definitely money well spent.

1) That was awesome on many accounts. Yeah for Ethan, the finger positions on the IBS (oops) were great! I took piano years ago and I don't remember exactly but I think most of his fingerings were actually right. Awesome for his age regardless.

Mia's part was hilarious, definitely noteworthy. Too bad she was upset but totally worth a good laugh.

2) He's impressive. I remember yearning to play the piano but they were odd about making children wait until a certain age to take lessons. Ethan has taken charge and taught himself. He holds his hands well and is amazingly accurate with little hesitation. Good job!

His groupie seems to be a little upset--maybe she doesn't like IBS and wants him to expand his selection!

6) That's GREAT! I'm a self-taught pianist, too, but nowhere near as good as Ethan. Now that Mia Coco...well, there are no words for that.

9) I think he is ready to step it up and play Guitar Hero with those fast fingers.

And I especially enjoyed his celebration dance after the first song. He's like the Ocho Cinco of piano playing.

11) I was thinking the same thing, Jenn. I just saw a piece of Mozart as a piano prodigy. Ethan's middle name should have been Mozart.

12) So awesome! Good job Ethan! I watched this and immediately told Jim we need to get our piano tuned. No one uses it right now and that's just a shame.
Poor Mia, she just wants to be famous too!
By the way, good luck in Decatur today! We really wanted to come watch you win the whole thing, but have a wedding unfortunately.
