7) I think this is too cute! How much time did it take you? I just showed it to my two year old and she was mesmerized. I will have to run it by Bubba later, I am sure he will think it is neat too.

Then he will ask if we can do it. It will be at this moment that my child will learn that mommy doesn't know a darn thing!

8) Very cute, Dave. Was the doorbell there originally? Not the sound, but the actual doorbell? I don't remember it.

9) Thanks guys. Courtney, yeah, the doorbell was always there. Long story short, but I had some trouble getting this video to show up right. There was a frame rate issue, and I had to re-sync the music with the video. The doorbell sound is slightly too late because of this issue, but it's not too bad.

I believe I can dig through my pile of discarded GelGems to find the half-circle doorbell. I will give it to you next year for our anniversary.

11) Awesome job Dave! I really like the music too, it went really well with the animation. I kept waiting for the subliminal Humzoo dude to show up in there but never saw it. I re-watched it 37 times too, and still didn't see it. Did I miss it?

12) Nice job. This had to have taken days, right? This is why I play Halo, less time and instant gratification. Seriously though, this is pretty amazing.

14) Fritz, it took about 14 days to come up with the idea, but I usually don't count that time since I'm not actually 'doing' anything. Once I had the idea, I got the whole thing shot over the course of 2 days. But I had a limited time during the day when I could shoot this due to the sun's position (lighting had to be consistent) and due to frequent rain (which would run down the window).

I'd say I spent roughly 5 hours actually shooting this, then maybe 3 hours in post-production. I spent a few hours writing my own music, time that ended up being wasted as I ended up using someone else's music (although I did spend over an hour choosing a couple songs and then merging them together).

Adding in setup times, cleanup, waiting for video to process, etc, I'd say the whole project was somewhere between 15 and 18 hours. But that's not bad, considering I would have sat around not doing anything that weekend anyway. I felt sickly and would have probably napped and/or vegged out on the couch otherwise.

15) Sarah P showed this to me. That square is hot.

The square is female right?

RIGHT?!

17) It's funny, but I did think about their genders before I ever started. I naturally thought that the square would be better for the guy and that an organic shape like a circle would be better for a woman. But I thought that was too obvious, so I decided to mix it up. But the whole time I was making this, I still thought of the circle as the female.

23) I totally had to look up who that was. Can I say this? Dave's client is Design Ideas. And I think it was a couple less dollar signs. Dave, feel free to remove or change this comment if needed.

24) It was a commissioned project, that's true. Part of a new campaign they're doing. I'm not even sure if they've seen it yet, but I did have permission to post it here.

25) Wow Dave that's really cool! Pretty exciting that Design Ideas asked you to do this for them!

One question tho... was the square sleeping around with the mailman? Cause that triangle looks awfully three-sided to be the circle's baby.

26) LOL, Ames. Dave, very impressive. I'm not much of a web video watcher so me wanting to see it is even more impressive. You do great work and very professional work as well. Great job! Hope your client enjoys it as much.

29) I agree that I love this video! And I also agree with George about where Dave finds the time to do this in his house - we've had a 90% finished basement since mid-May and still can't find the time to finish cleaning our new shower and sealing the tile to use it. Maybe the Heinzels could teach us a class on time management or at least how to keep two children under five occupied while their parents get things done. LOL

31) Design Ideas is a Springfield, IL based manufacturing company. From our website: Today, Design Ideas® creates, manufactures and globally markets more than 1,500 innovative and affordable accessories for the home and office under the slogan, “We make things interesting.”

And GelGems are one of our most popular products. As you saw in Dave's video, they're colorful, fun, pieces of gel that cling to windows, mirrors, & any other non-porous surface. They're sold world-wide and we're working on a bigger, better online store so you can purchase them from the comfort of your computer.

and, for the record, dave... you so totally rock!
