Skateboarding - Oct 11, 2008
I was able to escape from the family for a little bit on my birthday to head to the skatepark before sunset. I ended up spending more time shooting video than skating, but that's cool. Here's a little test edit of some footy that was shot almost all in slow motion.

1) Awesome video Dave! The colors and the sunset were totally cool. Love the slo-mo! I think that kid needs some tighter jeans though. Make sure that happens. Thx.

2) That video is awesome. If you don't mind me asking, what software are you using to edit your videos? You always have the best music on your videos, what song is on this one?

You're a freak of nature with the videography, Dave. We're gonna miss you when you go to LA. This one made me want to try to skateboard. Then I remembered I have a fear of breaking my face on concrete. Still, awesome stuff.

4) Man, you just took me along for the ride in that video. Great stuff! When you get to Hollywood and start directing and shooting huge movies, instead of camera cars that move while filming you should just ride your skateboard. That would impress!
I will never, ever look good in skinny jeans, either.

5) Bek, you'd be smoking hott in skinny jeans. Give them a chance.

Thanks for the comments guys. JOJO - I use Final Cut for all my videos. I used to be opposed to using other people's music, but after spending hours upon hours making my own, and after not liking most of it, I decided that I might as well use music from people who know what they're doing. I try to use it in good taste to make up for the blatant copyright violation.

Last night I spent a good 70 minutes listening to various songs in my iTunes library trying to find something fitting for this. I only knew that I had roughly 3 - 4 minutes of footage, and I wanted something relatively obscure. You'd think that would narrow it down, but it's easy to take an 8 minute song, chop it up and make it any length you want. So searching by duration doesn't help much. Anyway, I ended up chopping off the intro lyrics and a verse in the middle of this song to make it the right length.

6) you did an awesome job, it fits and flows well. The Nick Drake songs flows really well with your other video as well, you are very talented.

17) I love this video! Back in high school I dated this skater dude and he was originally from Indiana...so we would travel back there and just hang out with his skate crew. The point is...this video completely reminded me of those days and ehh I just want to be the young chick hanging out at the skate park again! Ive never really seen groups of young skaters like this in CT.

19) Totally dude - give me a call if you wanna hit the streets. And don't worry. I'm not going to LA anytime soon. I used to live in that area, and it was fun, but it's not for me.

20) Aight man.... I'll keep that in mind.... Actually me & Chase were talking about seeing if you wanted to do something similar to this, but with more tech. tricks.... Eh....? So, are you here to stay, err....? Maybe we could get somethin' goin' this weekend if it's nice.... It's up to you man.... Take it easy....

21) I'll be out of town this weekend, but other than that, yeah, I'm totally interested. We do need to get some of your tricks on film, 'cause you're a lot better than this video makes you look. It'd be rad to see that stuff in slow-mo too. But I'd like to add in some normal speed stuff as well to mix it up. SWEET
Dave Heinzel   Tuesday, October 14, 2008
22) Thanks man; really.... Aight, dude.... It SHALL be done, haha.... I'll even work on some new stuff to get it more consistent.... I'll call you or somethin' next weekend....(?)

24) Dave its great to hear you made it out to the skatepark on your birthday. Wish I could have been there. That new camera is really awesome. Take care of business with the family, hope to see you out there sometime though. Cold is coming.
