Ethan Sings DesperadoEthan's favorite song right now is Desperado, by the Eagles. He loves it and can't stop singing it. It's what he requests every night before tuck-in. Anyway, tonight I asked if he wanted to perform for the world to see, and he was happy to sing in front of the camera. He doesn't know all the words though, and he asked us to teach him the rest. First we need to learn them, 'cause I really have no idea.

7) Grant - yeah, I got a sweet road bike. It was five bucks at a garage sale. I actually bought it to turn it into some sort of yard art, but it turns out the bike is really good for collecting dust. Who knew.Dave HeinzelWednesday, October 22, 2008

13) I think Ethan is a music prodigy. First the piano and Mr. Rogers and now Desperado! Hope Dylan is working on the drums--sounds like the Humzoo Band will be getting gigs any day! Great job, Ethan!!LGrantWednesday, October 22, 2008
14) Dave, as I am a music teacher, I think you really need to get him involved in some sort of music lesson. Whether voice or piano, it doesn't matter. Ethan has some serious talent. Only sign him up if he's game, though.fritzWednesday, October 22, 2008
15) Awesome Ethan!! Now I'm going to have to keep my eye out for a Eagles t-shirt (insert line from the Big Lebowski here).Emmy AnnWednesday, October 22, 2008

19) Good story...
The kids and I just went to Washington park. A young kid in a local jr. high t-shirt came up to me and asked if I am "Mrs. Heinzel." I almost laughed at him. But I admitted that I was, and I asked how he recognized me/us. He said he recognized Ethan from his videos. LOL!
It turns out, he and his brother have met "Mr. Heinzel" (I can't help but laugh at that) through the district and are hoping to help Dave with some video stuff.
My kid is totally famous.
And on an unrelated note: Ethan is currently singing a song he made up. The words are "Barack Obama. Barack Obama! Barack Obama. Barack Obama!" It's to the tune of "Skip to my Lou."Courtney HeinzelWednesday, October 22, 2008
20) OK, so Ethan and Galvin should get together, totally. Ethan memorizes all of the words to songs and is quite musical, and Galvin memorizes all of the words to books and dialogue on some of his favorite television programs, like Ni Hao, Kai Lan and Yo! Gabba-Gabba!
PS. Love the video, Ethan!AngiWednesday, October 22, 2008
21) fritz is right. Pile as many instruments as you can in Ethan's room. He has incredible pitch, and a remarkable memory. You're either born with it or not, and I would say that he was born with it.mattpikeWednesday, October 22, 2008
22) Awesome job Ethan! Made my day!AmesWednesday, October 22, 2008
23) Awesome job, Ethan!! I'm with fritz and matt...get that kid some music lessons!!
p.s. We (the dogs) were recognized in Washington Park one day from the gotshoo. Weirded me out slightly.Sarah S.Wednesday, October 22, 2008
24) Kati Day once recognized Dave from the internet before he knew her. She was working at a fabric store we went to one time. It was wild!Courtney HeinzelWednesday, October 22, 2008
25) My jaw is hanging down to the floor. I can't believe he not only knew most of the lyrics, he kept the tune throughout. Amazing! The best parts were the tap dance toward the beginning and the really high notes. I laughed out loud. Hey Ethan...you can't see me, but I'm clapping really loud for you. BRAVO!!!LeslieWednesday, October 22, 2008
26) I saw you Heinzels at the mall one day and I almost said Hi like you were one of my friends and then thought, oh wait they don't know me.
I agree with everyone. Ethan definately has some talent. Cora loves to sing and has no problem remembering all of the words to a song, but I'm pretty sure she will never be an American Idol. :)franklinsWednesday, October 22, 2008
