I am not a gardener.

I don't like gardening. I don't like the maintenance--weed pulling. I don't like digging in the dirt, watering, any of it. I absolutely hate getting dirt under my nails. I know, that's why gardening gloves were invented. But I feel like I can't dig properly with gloves on my hands.

But yesterday I decided our yard was lacking color. We have a few rose bushes that bloom every year whether I do anything to them or not. A couple hydrangea and lilac bushes and some forsythia trees. And that's it.

I made a stop at Lowe's on the way home from Target and picked up some flowers to plant. I have no idea what anything is, just picked what I thought looked pretty. I spent the evening turning the soil to prepare my flower beds (does it kind of sound like I know what I'm talking about?) and then this morning I went out and planted them. I think they look pretty good...much much better than the empty dirt piles looked before I started. Now I just need to try to keep them alive for the rest of the summer.

These ones said perennial. I hope they really do come back year after year, they're very pretty!

I had to get these ones...my favorite color combination.

Jules, it's nice to know someone else feels the same about gardening even down to the dirt part. I thought I was a freak of nature (ok...maybe pun was intended). Your efforts look great--hope you can keep them looking that way with minimal effort. And that your perennials come back as you wiish. The stuff here either makes it or not on its own. Luckily it rains a lot in Oregon. LOL
