Christmas TreesI love Christmas. It is unequivocally my favorite holiday. This year we're in a much bigger house, and had decided long before we moved in that we'd have two trees to accommodate all of the ornaments we've collected over years (we've been together since 1994, married since 2001.) I've always wanted a "preppy" tree--mostly pinks and greens, but also some other colors if they were Lilly Pulitzer (the ultimate prepster) ornaments. Charlie wants nothing to do with the decorating and gave me his blessing before I started. This was our first tree to go up, the Sunday after Thanksgiving.
As I was sorting through the ornaments, I realized we had enough peacock themed ones to warrant their own tree (our last name, for those of you who don't know, is Peacock). I was out at Target last week and found a 6 foot tree on sale and knew it would fit perfectly in our foyer.
We also found a peacock for our front yard!
Yesterday, I spent the afternoon decorating our "traditional" Christmas tree. Some handmade ornaments, some picked up from various vacation destinations, and a lot of Hallmark ones that I bought when I worked there.
The kids each have a tiny Christmas tree in their rooms--Charlie's is plush and stands about 1 foot tall and Lilly's is silver, also about a foot tall. To round out our Christmas trees, the kids have a 3 foot green tinsel tree in the basement decorated with the "reject" ornaments. I was hoping if they had their own tree to decorate, they'd leave the main trees alone, but they've proven to be too tempting for little hands.
