Vampire Weekend: Contra
I'm excited about the release of the new Vampire Weekend album today. After only a few initial spins I can already tell it's going to be a good one. The sound is a little different than their debut album, but they still have their signature sound (arguably signature by the biggest Paul Simon fan, I assume). This is not really an album review, nor a plug. I'm not sure what the point of this blog is exactly. Possibly it's just a reason to share a recent vivid dream I had about the band.

I had a dream that they played at Davidson College. But it was spring time and the soccer team was playing. It was a beautiful day and Vampire Weekend was playing in the middle of the field during the game.

There was a wall formed of people standing around the band in a square, very similar to a wall during a penalty kick with their arms intertwined and hands cupped over their crotches. The intentions of the wall appeared to be to protect the band from getting hit by the soccer ball as the teams moved past them down the field.

For some weird reason it all made complete sense in the dream and seemed like a really ingenious idea to have a real live band rocking out during an intense soccer game. The crowd was going absolutely crazy and the music sounded incredible. I don't remember who won the game but it was a fun dream.

I have no idea what spawned this dream. Possibly the fact that Vampire Weekend is coming to Asheville in April. It's the same day that Deuce is set to arrive (April 6th) so we won't be attending. We're bummed about not being able to go to the show because we're big fans of the band. Wait, Asheville has hospitals right?

Here's to Vampire Weekend for their sophomore release. I'm excited about it. Please come back and play in a dream near me soon.
