Do-It Yourself Washer/Dryer Repair
I got a lot of great video of my family on the beach this past week I think. Haven't even had time to look at the footage really but I will soon and I'll get a video or two up on Humzoo. The most vivid video footage from the entire week happened the night before we left and I hastily was able to capture it on the Flip camera because it was handy. The quality isn't all that great but its still worth sharing.

Its a really long story but basically we had to replace the washer and dryer unit at the beach house, already. We spent most of Saturday finding a new one and installing it. This involved driving 60 miles round trip to get it, hauling out the old one (down 25 stairs) and loading in a new one (up 25 stairs). The closet where the washer/dryer goes isn't much larger than the unit itself, and hooking it up is a huge pain. Its not possible to hook the unit up to the plumbing and power with it outside the closet. I hooked up the first unit and got behind it from the side. My dad has a different way of doing things this round. See for yourself.

1) This one made me snort. My favorite part was watching him manually pick up his leg so he could get it on top of the dryer. That was pretty amazing, though. I can't believe he did that.

2) Me too Courtney, its awesome watching a 59-year-old man do stuff like that just so his wife can wash some clothes.

3) was it not possible to pull out the whole unit instead of climbing up and over? He is in great shape!

4) Nope, I briefly mentioned it in my caption too. The way the closet was designed its not possible to get it all hooked up before moving it into the closet. Its a real pain and when my dad said he was going climb over it I began rummaging around the house for some kind of video camera.

5) Denny... that is awesome.... My favorite part is the close up of Big D's butt in the beginning.

6) Wait wait... no wait.... upon further review ... My new favorite part is when he tries to pick his knee up on top of the unit... he stalls and then tries again. Great Footage.

7) Fun fact: my dad's left leg is much heavier than it appears to be in the video. That is why he had to pick it up with his hand. It weighs around 200 lbs alone.

8) I was trying to watch T.V. and sleep at the same time, a favorite passtime at my house the days, and Will's hysterical laughing kept disturbing me, I now see why!

10) I probably would have just tried to cut a hole in the wall at the back of the closet. Only thing is I would have misjudged the position and would end up with several holes in the wrong place.

12) Don't stop there! Did the poor man ever get out of there? That's what I was worried about the whole time. My clautrophobia is kicking in!!!

13) No he is still back there, has been back there for a few days now I think. My mom just gives him food every once in a while.

15) You young whippersnappers wouldn't be able to identify with SJFS - seasoned joint flexibility syndrome (I made-up that name). When you age, the flexibility in the joints goes somewhere, I don't know where, but its not in the joints anymore!! Even a simple little act like getting up from a sitting position on the floor while playing with the grandkids becomes a tedious, time-consuming, and sometimes painful, effort.

16) Dennis always was agile and fearless in diving in. I would feel like Nancy and get claustrophobic behind those appliances. I'd opt for a back door panel to get access when I need it. Scary! Great job Dennis with the acrobatics and great job with the video sharing it, Denny.
