Car Problem
Yesterday, Erica and I went to Lawrence, KS to see the KU Jayhawks football team play Sam Houston State. KU won 38-14. Erica and I met one of her friends from Springfield, Michelle. While the two of them played catch up in a coffee shop, I went next door to a bar with an Old Style/Cubbie Bear neon sign. I went inside, drank a Honker's Ale and watched the Cubs clinch the NL Central. It was wonderful.
Later that night, after the game and dinner, we left Lawrence. We were about 5 miles outside when we both heard a noise from the car. Whenever I hear funny noises in the car, I always look at the temperature gage. Sure enough it was on the "H." I took the next exit, popped the hood and smelled antifreeze. There was no smoking from the engine, which was good. Using my google text feature, I found a tow truck company in Lawrence. About a half hour later, our tow truck arrived.
The man who towed the car back to KC was Bill. Turns out that Bill served in the US Navy for 25 years repairing jet engines and also flying the occasional jet. He still has his pilot's license for multi-engine planes. He's been towing for about 18 years. Erica and I had a wonderful 40 minute trip back to our house with Bill. We talked about the TV shows, Wrecked and Ice Truckers. I gained a lot of respect for tow truck drivers as they even have schools on how to get vehicles out of certain situations. It was all very interesting.
The total cost of the bill was $150 ($45 for the hookup and 35 miles @ $3/mile). The nice thing is that our insurance company will foot that bill. Lastly, I think the problem with car is either a bad hose or it needs a new thermostat. I'll find out tomorrow when I take it to Midas.

1) It's because you said it was wonderful the Cubs cinched the NL Central. That goes against nature :-).
2) A hose nor a thermostat is hard to change. You can even determine if it is the hose yourself.
3) What a laugher that game must have been!!
4) Fritz we had the same problem not long ago with our former car; however, it wasn't the hose and thermostat, it was the wiring harnesses. Fritz the best thing to carry in your car for such emergencies is a roll of DUCT TAPE.
5) Out of something bad comes something good--meeting Bill. Almost made it worth the time and cost--even if the insurance company is paying it! Glad you met Bill!
6) I had my thermostat go out a week or two ago. Luckily, I was two blocks from Auto-Zone tm. I changed it out in their parking lot. They even called the competitor across the street to get me the best price.
7) Turns out it's the reservoir. Gonna run me $288. Glad I have a savings account.
