West Coast Vacation
Last night, Erica and I flew to San Jose, CA to start our vacation. We will be driving up the coast on the 1 and 101 hitting random spots on the way. We'll be stopping in the major cities; San Francisco, Portland and Seattle. We'll also be staying in some littler towns along the Pacific Coast. Currently we are staying in Oakland, CA a few miles from Berkeley, CA. We're going to visit Fisherman's Wharf, Chinatown and Alcatraz tomorrow. I want to post some pics, but the internet here must be slow.

1) Have a nice time - I used to live in the Bay Area about 30 minutes from Oakland.
2) Sounds like an awesome trip! Enjoy 1 and 101--beautiful and scenic. Supposed to be warm on the weekend here so no chance of rain to slow you down passing Portland and heading for Seattle! :)
3) Definitely check out Embarcadero Square and Gheradeli Square. Also Lombard Street (that crazy crooked street) is pretty neat to walk down. If you are going to be there a few days you should take a ferry to Sausalito, that place is rad.
4) As a chocolate connoisseur, please spell the name of the best in the world, Denny. It's Ghirardelli Square, my friend, and it's a great place to visit. Oh and Sausalito rocks--I got engaged there at the Alta Mira Hotel overlooking San Francisco Bay from the balcony.
5) love the seals!!!!
6) Although Hwy 1 takes twice as long (almost) it is SO much of a better drive than 101. Take a detour to Napa -- great wine. Medford, OR is awesome. Their motto is (or used to be) "We hug our visitors." San Fran could be a vacation on it's own. You'll never see everything and I won't add to the list you've already collected in the comments (though I could). Too bad you didn't jet down to the beautiful Monterey Bay area first -- I'm a-waving hello.
