Happening Now

I have been out of the loop for some time now. I've been enjoying the remaining days of my summer vacation. However, those days are over as band camp started yesterday for Center High School. Band camp pretty much runs from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. I'm not working the entire time, but I do have to be at school. I do most of my work in the evening from 6-9 helping students march and work drill. Also, when we have brass sectionals I work a lot. It's going to be a great year.

Also, I'm debating the purchase of an iPhone. I totally understand the pros of having one, but I've never been good at buying stuff for myself. I'm also not sure of what applications I would use or if I would even need them. I realize I could have highlights to the Cubs, but I can check those out on ESPN or online. Every time I think I've made a decision, I talk myself out of it, for or against the iPhone.

Well, life has been simple the past few weeks, but with school starting I'm sure I'll have stories about kids putting their pants on backwards or kids lodging objects into their instruments. Until then, cheers!

1) It must be awful hot marching this time of the year and objects in their instruments-I shudder at the thought. I was privileged to attend a concert over the weekend at Brevard Music Center-what an amazing group of talented young folks.

2) Maybe Denny can help, Fritz. He's become the major spokesman for iPhone and all the great features and options. He has some great blogs on it--maybe that will help with the decision. Welcome back! Looking forward to more about bands and music!

3) Band camp -- Woot! I heart band camp. Or at least I used to. Band geeks unite!
