Store Idea
My friend Wes and I are considering opening up a store at the new Storenvy (if you haven't had a chance to shop or browse, you should). The name of our store is "Cuter Than Your Baby."

We want to sell baby onesies with "clever" sayings on them. Sayings that make you do a double take and ask yourself, "did I just read that on that baby's onesie?"

We have a couple of startup onesies to get the store started, but I'm trying to see who would want some "clever" clothes for their babies.

Are parents tired of having the typical "Daddy's Rookie" or the picture of a panda on their child's clothes?

What "clever" saying would you want your baby to wear?

Are you interested in something like this or do you know anybody who is?

So, please weigh in, we'd love to hear from you!

1) I have seen these before and I would totally buy some for my little girl, but here are a few issues I have with them:

For little girls the sayings are usually too sassy, shallow or sexy. Such as: "Does this diaper make my butt look big?" or "Drama queen". That is not clever to me or cute. I have even seen one that said "My milkshake brings all the boys to the play-yard" NOT COOL. I do not want my baby girl expressing an attitude or sexuality.

The onesies are usually way to EXPENSIVE. I realize that it costs to make them, ship them and you need to make a profit. But charging someone $25 for a clever onesie is too much. I can buy a pack at wal-mart and print something clever off my computer and iron it on.

But I am a huge fan of clever and geeky sayings on kid's clothes and if you find the right balance, I may just be your first customer. I would also recommend that you make them in multiple colors, I am one to buy the same shirt in more than one color.

Sorry for rambling on, I think it is a good idea and I hope some of this helped.

2) I'm with K8Day - Galvin and Gwendolyn both had one that said, "Got Milk?" which was pretty cute, but that's as far as it went. Good luck in your venture!

3) Ethan had this shirt for a while

that's as clever as we got. Oh, and one that said something like, "if it's too loud, you're too old."

We're past onesies, though...

4) HA! Courtney that shirt is great.
I like K8's geek shirt idea too.
I bought one for a friend that said, "Party at my crib at 3am"

5) Our first ideas are: "Legalize It" "My Dad Likes Dudes" "My Mom Likes Chicks"

Is "I'm Sofa King Cute" stepping over the line?

6) Those are funny, but I think a very small, specific audience would actually buy them. I agree with the others on geeky/more universal things. I have no suggestions though.

8) My sister-in-law reminded me of one her youngest had that read: "Hung like a five year old" that was classic. And he was...which made it even more funny for our family.

9) I tend to stay away from any baby clothes that have one liners. I have a couple from Baby Gap, but they have small cursive writing that are sweet (I am what the buzz is all about with a bee & Udderly Adorable with a cow) Just me though, It would have to be really good before I would buy one.

But lots of folks dig the onesies with text on them.

10) I think cost is key. Babies grow so quickly and I doubt the average parent would want to spend $25 on one t-shirt that snaps in the crotch.. I agree that sexy is not something with a great appeal but thats personal and you never know what is going to catch on.

11) I agree with Erica about some of those being small audience specific, though they are clever. I like the Sofa King, but she would not really be able to wear it around most people I know. You could start with those, but throw in some geeky ones like "No, my dad will not fix your computer!"
