i detest potty training

We were only gone an hour. He went pee (or tried) before we left the house. I did, thankfully, bring along one extra pair of pants/undies. So two minutes after Gareth starts his swim lesson, Jonas pees his pants while playing on the play structure. We go change. Then, five minutes later, I notice how quiet Jonas is. How he is on the play structure, but not running around like his usual boisterous self. He's just kinda standing there. Hmmm.... kinda... hiding. Sigh... he pooped. In his pants. Two minutes after we were in the bathroom. Ugh. I don't have another spare set of clothes. We were only gone an hour! I dug through our swim/beach bag and thankfully found a swim dipe for him. But his legs were bare, and it was still foggy out. Grin and bear it, kid. I asked him, "Do you like having poop on your bottom?". "No," he replies. "You know what to do next time." "I forgot." That's his typical response for anything these days... "I forgot." Man, I tell ya, I am so ready for him to remember just this one little thing.

1) Yes, we "suspended" training for a bit because Galvin protested it so much --to the point of sobbing and pleading with us not to make him sit on the potty. He has begun to show a bit of interest again the past couple of weeks, so maybe...no. I will not get my hopes up.

Good luck with Jonas!

2) Boy, I have had those days. It is frustrating, isn't it?

Well, I still have to deal with Bubba more often than I should in this area and he is 5. When he was a baby and a toddler, he had constipation issues really bad. He cried every time he went to the bathroom. We went through mineral oil like crazy. Well, by the time he was 4, I knew that he was no longer constipated (it was some dietary issues) and he should no longer have a problem. Well, in his mind, it is going to hurt. So he holds it. Until he can no longer hold it. He hides, does his business, but then tries to walk around like nothing is wrong (be glad Gareth acts as if he doesn't like the feeling). I have spent many moments crying because I don't understand how to help him. His Dr. has been less than helpful, he swears it is a fiber issue. I think it is a psychological issue.

I really think this boy is going to be 10 years old and I am going to have ask him "Bubba, have you went to the bathroom yet?"

3) How old is your boy? My son was so much harder to train than my girls. I finally gave up and one day out of the blue he jumped up said he had to go potty and we were done. Oh he also likes to be ALONE, NO books, songs whatever, just leave him alone.

Ericka...for Bubba...my youngest had issues like that. I started giving her a small glass of prune juice. She calls it medicine juice. She had to have a cup every day for a few month and now just on occassion. It totally cleared up her bm issues.

4) My son is 3. He turned 3 in April. He started preschool in July. They work heavily on training over the summer. My older son (who is 6 now) was about 99% trained when he turned 3 -- not that I expect all boys to be the same. I'm not really worried that it won't happen. And I certainly don't make him feel bad about it. It just can be a little frustrating. I'm not really looking for more ideas. I know we are on the right track. I was mostly just getting out frustration.
