berkeley

Last weekend we went to Berkeley for the day to visit some good friends. We met at the Lawrence Hall of Science. It was shockingly dead. We think it was party due to a Cal game going on at the same time and the fact that it was opening day at the California Academy of Sciences. But... for whatever reason, we nearly had the run of the place.

We started outside with an amazing view of the whole bay area. I am trying to put together a panoramic. Then we went inside and the kids had blast for a few hours. We then headed over to Betsy and Tracy's house -- all of 10 minutes away, but on some seriously windy roads down out of the Berkeley hills. Had a leisurely afternoon. Checked out the huge garden at the middle school just down the street. Did some park time. Had yummy sushi. Then had to eventually make our way back home.

The trip is only an hour and a half. But It is amazing how difficult it can be to coordinate schedules! We are happy that we were able to have a great visit.

1) I've only been to Berkeley once but I was surprised at how beautiful it was. I walked the neighborhoods and was intigued by the way the houses were built into the hills and the paths up and down in the communities. The pictures are great. The kids looked very happy.
