my cautious child
Last week sometime I was at Safeway trying to grab something quick (I forget what). I had Jonas with me. He saw the end display of Fruit Loops. This is not something I normally buy, but I did not have the time for the ensuing freak out if I didn't. Normally, when I have time, I would make the effort to distract or whatever. But I didn't have that time luxury. Today they finally realized it was in the pantry. Jonas was all over it. But Gareth decided he would try it at the end of October. He just wasn't ready today. Both Isaiah and I tried to convince him that he'd love it, but he was having none of it. I just think it's funny that his cautiousness sometimes keeps him from things he'd love. We tried for months to get him to try ice cream when he was younger. Loves it now. Although, the more I think about it, the more I don't get it. He is actually pretty good about trying new stuff at dinner. Maybe it was just too early in the morning.

1) Just curious-any reason he will try them at the end of October? Does he think his brother will eat them all and he will be safe? I never could stand the smell of Fuit Loops-maybe thats his problem:>
2) He just picked a time in the future. We've told him how he can't say he doesn't like something that he hasn't tried. He can say that he's not ready to try that. And that maybe he'll like it when he's older. So he sometimes just pick a random date.
3) What a good idea-I'll pass that along to my grand's parents. My kids' Dad would make them sit there until they "cleaned" their plates. I hated it but you pick your battles. Now they tell me they would hide it in the floor vent! I can just imagine what the people who bought our house thought. We also had a pretty fat dog.LOL
