the best place to live
I know I've mentioned before how expensive it is to live here. But really, when I think about how amazingly beautiful it is, then it's no wonder. The beach is a 5 minute bike ride from my house --- granted, the water is ice cold.... I can't believe people surf here, even though though they were wet suits... it's flippin' freezing! Anyway... today, I drove about 45 minutes up the "mountain" (it's small on the grand scale of mountains) to drop off Isaiah. He is doing a backpack trip this weekend (2 nights). I am completely envious and cannot wait until I can go; it's been far too long for me. And I got a new ultralight sleeping bag and pack for Christmas. Anyway... if you click over to my photo albums you can see the few pics I took of the redwood trees. In Big Basin park, where were, most of the trees are 1,000-2,000 years old. they had a slice of a tree trunk from a tree that had fallen... that tree sprouted in 574. Unreal. Redwood forests are amazing. I hope we get to Sequoia Nat'l Park this year (or next). Anyway... it's painfully expensive, but really, most of the time I cannot imagine living elsewhere.
