I have no good title
No, as I stated, I have no good title for this post. Just kinda wanted to ramble about the day before I head off to bed far later than I should. So here are my random, stream-of-consciousness thoughts.
As I was working on dinner, Gareth came in and asked if he could help. While that is a rarity (that he ask), I was quite delighted and let him wash the carrots. He was more than happy to. While we were working on dinner, Isaiah was manning the grill (and shuffling between in and out). We heard a blood-curdling scream from outside where Jonas was, and Isaiah went to investigate. He went outside to find Jonas standing there smiling. Just happy as a clam. Apparently he just felt like screaming. He did it once or twice more. Really not sure why. But, that does remind me that he loves to be loud to see what happens. Whenever we go into a parking garage, when he gets out of the car, he'll yell "Heh-wo" (doesn't quite have the "L" sound down yet) to hear the echo. It's quite cute, though, when he tries to do it while we are still in the car. I have to remind him that the car does not echo on the inside.
And now for something completely different... my cat. I just have to comment that I feel bad for her. She is now relegated at all times to the downstairs -- where we have hard wood. She is not allowed on the carpet. She has peed one too many times, mostly on the stairway landing. But in the evenings, when I am done downstairs, I head upstairs.... and we put the baby gate up at the bottom of the stairs, and down she stays. She cannot jump over it because she broke her leg when she was 4 months old and is not a good jumper. I wish I could explain to her what the issue is. Oh well.
I was going to write about something else. But really, this is why I never thought I could keep a blog... because I always forget what I wanted to say. The weather was nice. I had a headache for three days (which finally seems to be gone). Oh... I finally remembered.
Pretty much on any day over last 10 or so years, you could ask Isaiah or I about either our bed or our washer and dryer, and we could easily go on for some time about how wonderful those items are. As for our bed, we can (and do) still contemplate its wonderfulness at least once a week as we sink into it and fall asleep faster than we ever knew possible before kids. But, as for the washer and dryer... well, more the washer, we have our first "issue". We have a front loading washer, and the piece that keeps the door fully closed seems to broken. I think it's been broken for some time now, I just didn't realize what the problem was until this afternoon. Before this afternoon, it was manageable. I could just shove the door closed extra hard and it would work. But this afternoon, it kept being not sealed enough, so it wouldn't run. So I finally took a closer look and identified the problem. And hopefully, it is an easy problem to fix. If it is what it appears to be at first glance, then the cost is about $20, including 2-3 day shipping. It's a small part that simply needs to be unscrewed and a new one screwed on. The kicker is whether the piece that is broken off is stuck inside or whether it fell off. We'll see. I am truly hoping for the former option because (a) I am still doing laundry from our Tahoe trip and (b) Gareth's birthday party is next weekend and I don't want a ton of laundry to be piled up until then. But, I guess I can't really do any until Wednesday, at the earliest. So maybe I should move my sorted piles from the hallway to the laundry room.
Yeah well.... that's my ramblin.

1) We had the exact same thing happen to our front-loading washer. I paid for overnight shipping since it was Christmas time and the weekend was fast approaching. You hardly ever get away with fixing a major appliance yourself, and for so little cost.
