poor little man

Jonas has had a fever since Saturday. I can't get it below about 99.5. And it has gone above 102. When it's that high, it does respond to Tylenol (at least a little bit).
But we've mostly been staying home. A few unavoidable trips here and there. Thing is, he still has a fair amount of energy. The other thing is he has a horrid post nasal drip that makes him cough cough cough.
But, this morning he says he wants to go visit some other kids that are sick so he can play with them. Broke my heart. He usually treasures his alone time. But he's asked to do so many things the past few days, and I keep saying we gotta stay home because he's sick and we can't go to so and so because we don't want to get them sick. Poor guy. He is ready for some social action, but he's still too sick.

1) have you tried alternating the motrin with the tylenol?

3) Agreeing with Spike--give the Tylenol and if it doesn't help much, interchange it with Ibuprofen (you can clear this with the doctor, if you'd like). We do this with our daughter while teething, but can't with Galvin; he's allergic to Ibuprofen.

Good luck, and big hugs to Jonas!

4) Cold compresses and tons of cold liquids --- that's what my mum would say to do! Hope he's better soon.

6) Yup... we've done the alternating Tylenol and Motrin. But really, I only want to medicate if it gets above 102. Under that and it's better to let the fever do its job. I did call the ped today. If the fever persists through tonight, I'll bring him in Thursday morning. That would be 5 straight days of fever. At least he doesn't seem horribly sick; I just worry about a persistent fever. He is eating, though not quite as much as usual. And it's been usually hot here, above 80. So I'm trying to push the liquid. I think he's bored!
