Alert for Fishers,Hunters, and Beer Drinkers
There is bad news out of Garner, N.C. because the facility that makes Con Agra's best selling snack, The Slim Jim was damaged by fire or other causes. I know that this might slow down some of the hunting and fishing trip foods required some members of this board. I believe that the affected product was the Slim Jim Turkey Snack. There will be further updates to this information as soon as it is known. My question: Does Steve have an ample supply before Fishing Season begins? On July 10, 2009, there was a meeting between management and employees, and the employees were told that they would be going back to work by the end of July,2009.

1) Bean,

Slim Jims are horrible. You need to go to a processor and get some deer jerky or get your own smoker.

2) I made my own Slim Jims this year, first attempt. They turned out ok, but next year they should even be better. Somehow I managed to let the winter months slip by without making jerky. I oven dry my jerky at a low temperature. I am satisfied with it the way it turns out. Some people swear by jerky done in a smoker. I am sure some jerky cooked in a smoker is good, but I had some last year given to me that I ended up discarding - bad stuff!!

4) I was just reporting a potential shortage in the future market for Slim Jims. It appears that the elitist hunters and fishers don't care about the welfare of the workers and corporations that manufacture these items. If you follow the Liberal Obama leaings, he is going to order you to eat at least 6 Slims Jims a day for a week to help the affected people out. A good hopt summer afternoon event would be to go your local bar or tavern as you call them, and have a good cold , a Slim Jim, and a Pickled Boiled Egg; however, the egg can be substituted for by a pigs foot. This also makes good food for catering a wedding or Irish Wake. Hey Good News for your liberal information, that plant employed over 600 people, so you are telling me that just for health reasons you are glad to see this many on the unemployment lines. Wake up silly girl because you aren't dry behind the ears and very worldly either.

6) I think they should open back up the buggy whip plants too. Do you know how many people have been out of work since the early 1900s that worked in that field.

8) It has been estimated that theCon Agra plant contributed 5.5 MM dollars to the local economy in various forms, such as wages, property taxes, local purchases and other items. Take that amount of any small town and you hurt.

16) Jim i believe the company not only wants the Sales, but they want to keep the employees happy. Unemployment in the Raleigh-Wake County Area is 9.5% and this where the plant is located. OBAMA has had nothing to do with any of this, and as far as I know he doesn't care about the employees.

26) The Conagra plant resumed limited production on July 19,2009 and there have been no reported interuption. The portion of the plant that reported was probably the front end of the process.
